Wave energy attenuation by drifting and non-drifting floating rigid plates

چکیده

Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) is used to numerically simulate the viscous air-water flow around a thin rigid floating plate subjected surface waves, with aim improve understanding of dissipative mechanisms in drifting and non-drifting conditions. CFD model validated by comparing obtained results against previously published data Nelli et al. (2017). It shown that energy waves dissipated water over both upper lower surfaces plate. The dissipation increases as function steepness incoming waves. On plate, overwash contributes steep while this effect slightly smaller when moving freely. Simple equations are for estimating height fluxes, which found be fair agreement present simulations. due shear stresses under seen higher body longitudinal direction. Wave propelled ratchets and drifting rafts

Several droplets, bouncing on a vertically vibrated liquid bath, can form various types of bound states, their interaction being due to the waves emitted by their bouncing. Though they associate droplets which are individually motionless, we show that these bound states are selfpropelled when the droplets are of uneven size. The driving force is linked to the assymetry of the emitted surface wa...

Drifting and Tunneling

The drill & blast method is still the most typical method for medium to hard rock conditions. It can be applied to a wide range of rock conditions. Some of its features include versatile equipment, fast start-up and relatively low capital cost tied to the equipment. On the other hand, the cyclic nature of the drill & blast method requires good work site organization. Blast vibrations and noise ...

Evolution with Drifting Targets

We consider the question of the stability of evolutionary algorithms to gradual changes,or drift, in the target concept. We define an algorithm to be resistant to drift if, forsome inverse polynomial drift rate in the target function, it converges to accuracy 1 − ǫwith polynomial resources, and then stays within that accuracy indefinitely, except withprobability ǫ at any one tim...

Adaptation to Drifting Concepts

Most of supervised learning algorithms assume the stability of the target concept over time. Nevertheless in many real-user modeling systems, where the data is collected over an extended period of time, the learning task can be complicated by changes in the distribution underlying the data. This problem is known in machine learning as concept drift. The main idea behind Statistical Quality Cont...
